A BRIEF BIO

My name is Elka Romero. I'm Brazilian and I live in Fortaleza, a city near the Atlantic Ocean. I was born on February 8th, 1969.  I’m divorced, but my ex-husband is a good friend of mine, and this is important to the education and psychological development of our only daughter, Rebecca.

Rebecca is a pretty girl of nineteen years old (May 24th, 1996). Despite having suffered several surgeries since birth, she is very, very happy and active. The surgeries were due to some problems in her heart. Almost all the problems have been solved, but she must use a pacemaker to be alive. She needs to visit the doctor periodically, and she will go on suffering surgeries her whole life to change the pacemaker whenever it is needed. An electrical device has to be checked always and to be replaced whenever it is not working well. She knows this and is prepared. I’m very proud of my daughter. She's writer of young adult books. She rocks!!! ;)

My family is not too big. I have two sisters (Leila and Nedja) and one brother (Osmar Filho) of the same parents and a sister (Kamylla) of father only. My parents are Osmar (who has passed away in Nov 2nd, 2012) and Beuva. I have three nephews (Osmar Neto, Bruno and Davi) and four nieces (Ticiana, Agatha, Sofia and Isadora).

I have a truly artistic personality. Since I was a child, I like to draw, to craft and do many kind of art... I studied Modern Dance when I was eight years old until my teens. I danced in theaters. I like music. I used to play some instruments without to study for it, just using my ear to put the musical notes. I was part of a choir at my school in my childhood and part of a church choir in my adolescence. I was invited to be part of a musical band as a back vocal at that time, but my father didn’t allow, because it would harm my studies at school. Now I’m international designer and illustrator. I also have a job in a public school for children and I'm writer of one children's book for now.

I use to create digital art with Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended, Adobe Illustrator CS6, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X7, Corel Painter 2015, Corel PaintShop Pro X8 and ArtRage 4. I've got a Wacom CintiQ 13HD and an iPad with the ArtRage instaled, and I also like to work with colored pencils, watercolor and my Copic markers.

I really like versatility and I consider myself an eclectic designer/illustrator (tending to shabby/grunge/whimsical/colourful/shiny/childlike/feminine) who loves hand drawn art.

I find inspiration in anything… objects, pictures, nature, colors of the world etc… and even in my own soul, in the unconscious memories of past moments.
